overview
BEVI, also called Beverly Island / Bird’s Eye View Instantly, was a mapmaker program built in Unity for lightweight town / city map-making, with an emphasis on worldbuilding. it was developed capstone-style for CS 321 in fall 2021 during my time at George Mason University.
version control was done with the now functionally-defunct Unity Collaborate, whose deprecation has resulted in direct code credits being difficult-to-recover. however, a build remains on the repo and source-code is accessible.
BEVI allows the user to make maps of a smaller area (such as a town or village) than most map-makers, with a focus on story building and information storage, allowing a myriad of information to be stores with each element on the map.
on this project, i:
- came up with the initial pitch and the name
- acted as project leader
- helped program several core elements, including back-end
- worked on art assets and general concepts for the project
